COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
This community exists to support you and create a safe, encouraging space for learning and growth. Here's what that looks like in practice:
Ask freely and often. There are no silly questions here. Whether you're double-checking a technique from training, encountering a new situation or just want reassurance, please post. Your question likely helps someone else too. If you're unsure about something, ask before you try it - that's what we're here for.
Share your wins. Did a camper's face light up when you styled their hair? Did you finally master a technique? We want to celebrate with you! These stories inspire all of us and remind us why this work matters. Your successes, big and small, encourage other counselors and build our collective confidence.
Support each other. While the WeUnik team is here to provide expert guidance during camp season (with our 24-hour response commitment), counselors helping counselors is the heart of this community. If you have experience or advice to share, please jump in. Your peer insights are invaluable - you understand the camp environment in ways that make your advice especially relevant.
Keep it respectful and confidential. When sharing stories or photos, always protect camper privacy - no names or identifying details. Treat each member of this community with kindness and respect, even when you disagree. Remember that we're all working toward the same goal: helping every camper feel confident and cared for.
Photo and Image Guidelines. We encourage you to share photos of hairstyles, techniques, and your work! When posting photos:
- Never include camper faces or any identifying information (no name tags, cabin numbers, or identifiable backgrounds)
- Focus on the hair - Close-up shots of styles, techniques, or products work best
- Get permission first - Always ask before photographing anyone, even if you're only showing their hair
- Be mindful of quality - Clear, well-lit photos that help others learn from what you're sharing
- When in doubt about whether a phot is appropriate to share on this platform, ask the WeUnik team first
Stay on topic. This space is dedicated to hair care support for Camp Winona counselors. Let's keep our conversations focused on helping each other succeed in caring for our campers' hair. Off-topic conversations can be taken to other channels or personal messages
Be patient and understanding. Everyone here is learning and growing. We all started somewhere, and mistakes are part of the journey. Let's create a space where it's safe to be a beginner and to ask for help. If someone asks a question you think is "basic", remember that you probably asked the same question once too.
Respect the learning process. Some techniques take practice. Some hair textures are new to you. Some situations don't have perfect solutions. That's all okay. This community is about progress, not perfection. Share what worked, what didn't, and what you learned along the way.
Community Timeline. This community will be active for the 2026 Camp Winona camping season - from June 1st through September 30th, 2026. This gives us time to prepare before camp season begins and to debrief and share final insights after amp ends. During the active camp season (June 27 - August 9), the WeUnik team commits to responding to questions within 24 hours. During the pre and post-season periods, response times may vary, but we'll still be here to support you.
Use this space for support, not emergencies. If you're facing a true emergency situation at camp (injury, allergic reaction, etc.), contact camp medical staff and leadership immediately. This community is for hair care guidance and support, not urgent medical situations.
This community works best when we all show up with generosity, curiosity, and care. Thank you for being part of it.
